This piece began with a simple request — the client only wished for a tattoo around the waist.
Building on that, I incorporated my own illustrative style while blending in subtle elements of cyber totemism. The lines flow organically along the body’s natural contours, tracing the curve from the ribs down to the iliac crest. It resembles another living organism beneath the skin, coexisting with its host in a state of quiet symbiosis.
The ribs, side waist, and iliac crest form a sinuous body structure with shifting muscle tension and uneven skin thickness, which requires extremely delicate and controlled needlework.
Visually, the design carries both the cold precision of machinery and the warmth of hand-drawn uncertainty. Through this blurring of the human–machine boundary, I aimed to express an alternate notion of life — a delicate equilibrium between consciousness, body, and totemic form.
